January 18th-20th Snowstorm of 1988

A MAJOR SNOWSTORM AFFECTED A LARGE PART OF THE REGION JANUARY 18TH THROUGH THE 20TH IN 1988. THE HEAVIEST SNOW FELL ACROSS SOUTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA WITH AMOUNTS IN EXCESS OF 20 INCHES IN A FEW LOCATIONS. MOST OF THE SNOWFALL OCCURRED ON JANUARY 19TH. THE 12.1 INCHES OF SNOW AT THE SIOUX FALLS AIRPORT, WAS THE LAST TIME THE AIRPORT RECEIVED 12 INCHES OR MORE OF SNOW IN A SINGLE STORM DURING THE MONTHS OF DECEMBER THROUGH FEBRUARY. BELOW IS A MAP AND LIST OF SNOWFALL AMOUNTS FROM ACROSS THE REGION.
