High Temperatures Averaging Well Above Normal This February

WITH THE FIRST TEN DAYS OF FEBRUARY DRAWING TO A CLOSE...A LOOK AT
HIGH TEMPERATURES ACROSS SOUTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA...SOUTHWEST
MINNESOTA...AND NORTHWEST IOWA SEEMS TO EXPLAIN WHERE ALL THE SNOW
HAS GONE. MOST OF IT HAS MELTED...SINCE TEMPERATURES HAVE BEEN WELL
ABOVE NORMAL. THE ONLY REMAINING SNOW IN THIS AREA IS NEAR AND NORTH
OF FLANDREAU SOUTH DAKOTA...AND IN THE MIDDLE OF NORTHWEST
IOWA...AROUND SHELDON AND CHEROKEE. THE FOLLOWING FOUR PARAGRAPHS
HIGHLIGHT HIGH TEMPERATURES SO FAR THIS FEBRUARY AT SIOUX FALLS...
MITCHELL...HURON...AND SIOUX CITY IOWA.

FOR SIOUX FALLS...WITH A HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 47 DEGREES TODAY...
THAT MADE THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR THE FIRST TEN DAYS OF
FEBRUARY 37.6 DEGREES. THIS IS 9.0 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE FIRST
FOUR DAYS WERE NOT AS WARM AS THE PAST SIX...WITH THE COLDEST DAY
ONLY REACHING 14 ON THE THIRD OF THE MONTH. HOWEVER...THE AVERAGE
HIGH TEMPERATURE BETWEEN THE FIFTH AND THE TENTH WAS 29.9 DEGREES.
THIS IS 17.0 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.

FOR MITCHELL...WITH A HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 46 DEGREES TODAY...THAT
MADE THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR THE FIRST TEN DAYS OF FEBRUARY
40.0 DEGREES. THIS IS 11.8 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE FIRST FOUR DAYS
WERE NOT AS WARM AS THE PAST SIX...WITH THE COLDEST DAY ONLY
REACHING 15 ON THE THIRD OF THE MONTH. HOWEVER...THE AVERAGE HIGH
TEMPERATURE BETWEEN THE FIFTH AND THE TENTH WAS 48.0 DEGREES. THIS
IS 19.3 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.

FOR HURON...WITH A HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 38 DEGREES TODAY...THAT
MADE THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR THE FIRST TEN DAYS OF FEBRUARY
33.6 DEGREES. THIS IS 5.3 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE FIRST FOUR DAYS
WERE NOT AS WARM AS THE PAST SIX...WITH THE COLDEST DAY ONLY
REACHING 7 ON THE THIRD OF THE MONTH. HOWEVER...THE AVERAGE HIGH
TEMPERATURE BETWEEN THE FIFTH AND THE TENTH WAS 40.7 DEGREES. THIS
IS 11.9 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.

FOR SIOUX CITY IOWA...WITH A HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 55 DEGREES TODAY...
THAT MADE THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR THE FIRST TEN DAYS OF
FEBRUARY 40.3 DEGREES. THIS IS 8.3 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE FIRST
FOUR DAYS WERE NOT AS WARM AS THE PAST SIX...WITH THE COLDEST DAY
ONLY REACHING 15 ON THE THIRD OF THE MONTH. HOWEVER...THE AVERAGE
HIGH TEMPERATURE BETWEEN THE FIFTH AND THE TENTH WAS 47.8 DEGREES.
THIS IS 15.3 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.
