A powerful low pressure system will move across the central plains today and tonight. This low will take a more southerly track than the previous storm system, allowing for heavy snows to occur across south central into southeast South Dakota, as well as, southwest Minnesota and northwest Iowa. Precipitation will begin as snow across western areas, with rain over eastern portions of the area this morning changing to snow late this morning into this evening. The snow will be heavy at times and when combined with strong northerly winds will produce blizzard or near blizzard conditions, making travel difficult.
