How common are consecutive 90 degree days?

Several locations around the area have reached 90 degrees for the last two or three days in a row.  While this is fairly common in mid-summer, it is an unusual occurrence in May.  Sioux City, Iowa, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Mitchell, South Dakota, and Spencer, Iowa all have records going back at least 90 years.  The string of 90 degree days will end today as a strong cold front moves through the area overnight and results in high temperatures 20 to 25 degrees colder on Thursday.  Below is some information on consecutive 90 degree days.

Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Longest streak of 90 degree days - 19 days from June 17-July 5, 1910.
Longest streak of 90 degree days in May - 5 days from May 16-20, 1934
Current streak of 90 degrees - 2 days from May 19-20
