Severe Weather Reports Across Northwest Iowa and Southwest Minnesota Through Midnight CDT

Severe weather reports July 9 after 7 am CDT.

The reports above have been grouped into two main clusters.  The reports within the mageneta ellipse represent severe weather reports with a HP-type supercell which moved east-southeast along the lower Missouri river valley early in the morning. The reports within the tan ellipse represent reports from the afternoon and evening severe thunderstorms which developed generally across northwest Iowa and Southwest Minnesota.  It should be noted that the plotted reports are for the calendar day starting at 7 am CDT, and that the early morning event actually extended much further to the north and west, starting around 4 am in the Wessington Springs/Wolsey areas, and producing widespread hail and damaging winds southeast through the Mitchell, Parkston and Scotland areas until 7 am CDT.
