Sioux Gateway Airport measures new record preciptation for September 3

Heavy rainfall occured overnight and into the early morning hours around much of southeast South Dakota, northeast Nebraska, and portions of northwest Iowa around Sioux City.   The rainfall for the calendar day at Sioux Gateway Airport through noon CDT has totalled 3.07 inches.  This sets a new record daily precipitation for Sioux City, previously 2.61 inches in 1949.
