The National Weather Service Cooperative Observer in Wessington Springs, SD reported an additional 2.90" of rain overnight. This brings the year-to-date total for this location to  34.38". Not only is this a new record for this far into the year, it is also a new record for an entire year, and there is still almost 5 months yet to go this year. The previous record was 34.13" set in 1995. The previous record precipitation for the 216 day period of January 1 through August 4 was 27.59" in set in 1962.
