...EXTENDED DRY SPELL FOLLOWS VERY WET SUMMER ACROSS THE AREA...

FOR THOSE THAT HAVE NOTICED THE CHANGE IN THE WEATHER PATTERN ACROSS
SOUTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA...SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA...NORTHWEST IOWA...AND
NORTHEAST NEBRASKA...ONE OF THE MAIN FEATURES HAS BEEN A LACK OF
RAINFALL. THROUGH THE AFTERNOON OF THE 17TH OF OCTOBER...IT HAS BEEN
MORE THAN THREE WEEKS SINCE A TENTH OF AN INCH OF RAIN WAS MEASURED.
MOST OF THE AREA HAS ONLY REPORTED FIVE HUNDREDTHS OF AN INCH OR
LESS SO FAR THIS MONTH OF OCTOBER...AND THERE IS NO SIGNIFICANT
PRECIPITATION IN THE FORECAST UNTIL POSSIBLY FRIDAY NIGHT.

FOR SIOUX FALLS...IT HAS BEEN 24 DAYS SINCE A TENTH OF AN INCH OF
PRECIPITATION FELL. THE LONGEST PERIOD THIS YEAR WITHOUT A TENTH OF
AN INCH IS ONLY 25 DAYS...ENDING APRIL 5TH. THE LONGEST PERIOD ON
RECORD WITHOUT A TENTH OF AN INCH OF PRECIPITATION ON A SINGLE DAY
IS 125 DAYS...ENDING MARCH 25...1931.

FOR MITCHELL...IT HAS ALSO BEEN 24 DAYS SINCE A TENTH OF AN INCH OF
PRECIPITATION WAS MEASURED. THE LONGEST PERIOD THIS YEAR WITH SO
LITTLE PRECIPITATION WAS 39 DAYS...ENDING APRIL 22ND. THE LONGEST
PERIOD ON RECORD WAS 132 DAYS...ENDING FEBRUARY 12...1913.

FOR HURON...IT HAS ALSO BEEN 24 DAYS SINCE A TENTH OF AN INCH OF
