Record Low Pressure for Minnesota

An unusually intense area of low pressure has set a record for the lowest corrected surface pressure in the state of Minnesota.  As of 515 PM Tuesday afternoon, the surface pressure at Bigfork MN had fallen to 28.20 inches of mercury (955.0 mb).  The previous record was 962.6 mb set on November 10, 1998 in Albert Lea and Austin, MN.

The low continues to deepen and the surface pressure may continue to fall. Therefore, this statement is preliminary and will be updated once the lowest pressure is finally observed.
