Hazardous Winter Weather Across Portions of the Area Today

Low pressure will move across Nebraska and into Iowa today and tonight. Snow is expected will spread from east-central South Dakota early this morning, into southwest Minnesota by mid morning.  Snow may be heavy at times this afternoon and evening, mainly across southwest Minnesota.  Light snow is possible over portions of southeast South Dakota and northwest Iowa.  There is also the potential for light freezing drizzle over parts of southeast South Dakota, northwest Iowa and far northeast Nebraska.  If freezing drizzle does occur, it may cause a glaze of ice on untreated surfaces. Winter storm warnings are in place across much of southern and central Minnesota, and northeast Iowa, today and tonight, with winter weather advisories for northeast South Dakota and southwest Minnesota.
