Mid-April Snowfall Blankets Area, less than a week after severe weather

Another strong early spring storm system moved across the area, less than a week after severe weather buffeted parts of southeast South Dakota, northeast Nebraska, northwest Iowa, and southwest Minnesota. However, this area of low pressure brought with it a great deal of colder air, rather than the warm air with the previous system.  The result was a broad snowfall across much of southeast South Dakota into northeast Nebraska, rather than severe weather.  Daily snowfall records were set at Mitchell (3.9 inches) and Huron (4.0 inches) on April 15.  Below is a map of the snowfall, along with a listing of the reports.
