Summary of Large Hail & Damaging Winds Monday night, August 22-23, 2011

A complex of severe thunderstorms moved from east central South Dakota, through southwest Minnesota and into northwest Iowa during between 930 pm Monday, August 22nd, and 230 am Tuesday, August 23rd.  These storms produced numerous reports of large hail up to the size of golf balls, along with damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.  Below is a map showing the location of reports received by the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls so far.  You can also view an interactive version of this map here.
