Critical Fire Behavior Expected Today and Wednesday

A Red Flag Warning for critical fire behavior due to low humidity and strong wind is in effect from noon today until 7 pm CDT Wednesday.

Fire danger will be very high to extreme today due to very dry conditions of late, combined with increasing southerly winds to 20 to 30 mph and very low afternoon humidities of 16 to 25 percent.  The worst conditions are expected on Wednesday with southerly winds a bit stronger, with a repeat of afternoon humidity from 16 to 25 percent.  Extreme caution should be exercised with any off road vehicle use, and farmers should keep aware of the risk of fire starts while harvesting in very dry fields.
