Increasing shallow moisture will work northward into the area during the day, and will result in development of low clouds and fog across the area, which will become widespread tonight. Drizzle is expected to develop during the evening, mainly through areas east of the James River Valley, and especially along and east of Interstate 29. With surface temperatures near to slightly below freezing, there will be pockets of freezing drizzle, especially along the interstate 29 corridor and eastward through southwest Minnesota, along with adjacent areas of northwest Iowa and northeast Nebraska. Slick surfaces may develop as a result of the freezing drizzle, especially untreated roadways, parking lots, and sidewalks. Temperatures from east of Sioux City toward Spencer and Storm Lake will have an easier time climbing above freezing, and should transition to drizzle after a brief period of freezing drizzle.
