A Look at Precipitation Trends in 2011

The year 2011 had two distinct weather patterns. The year began very wet across the region.  For many locations, the first 7 months of the year were amongst the wettest on record.  The weather pattern switched in the middle of summer and precipitation became rare across the region.  For many locations, the last 5 months of the year, August through December were amongst the driest on record.  Below is a table which shows the precipitation for January through July and then for August through December for a few cities around the area.  Shown in the 1st table is where January 1 - July 31, 2011 is ranked for the wettest on record and for the second table is where August 1 - December 31, 2011 is ranked for the driest on record.
