October 2012 was below normal for high temperatures

For the last 12 months, much of the region has seen above normal high temperatures.  A cooler weather pattern set up across the Northern Plains in October.  As a result, Sioux Falls, Sioux City and Huron saw high temperatures below normal for the first time since September 2011. Despite the cooler temperatures, the dry weather persisted for the fifth straight month.  Sioux City, Sioux Falls and Huron again saw below normal precipitation for October.  The tables below show summarize the temperatures for October and the rainfall deficit since June 1.
