Snow cover across the Plains

Most of the plains, from the Canadian border to Kansas will likely
see a white Christmas this year. Below is a visibile satellite
image from Thursday morning. Most of the region is covered
with a fairly deep snowcover. However, locations between I90
and the Missouri River, and portions of western South Dakota,
are snow free. A weak system will drop southeast across the
northern plains Monday and Christmas Day, and will likely
not produce any significant snow, so the snow free areas will
remain brown through Christmas.
