Areas of dense fog have developed across parts of southwest Minnesota, northwest Iowa and southeast South Dakota this morning. Motorists should expect visibilities below a quarter mile along and east of the Interstate 29 corridor through 9 am. The dense fog is expected to persist for 1 to 2 hours. Visibilities will slowly improve by the middle of morning as the sun burns off any remaining fog. With temperatures well below freezing, the fog may also produce a thin glaze of ice on untreated roads and other exposed surfaces. If encountering dense fog this morning, slow down keep your headlights on low beam and allow extra time to reach your destination.
