A comparison of March and April 2012 and 2013

March and April of 2013 has been one of the coldest on record for much of the Plains.  What it makes even more remarkable is that last year was one of the warmest March and April periods on record.  While highs in the 70s and 80s have been rare so far this spring, it was a relatively common occurrence last year.  On the other hand it has been rare this spring to have the low temperature remain above freezing while over half of the days had minimum temperatures above freezing in March and April of 2012.

Below is a comparison of March and April 2012 to March and April 2013.
