Light Snow Affecting Parts of the Area Through this Evening

Small amounts of light snow will be falling across the area this afternoon, and into some of this evening. Most of the snow will fall in the northeast quarter of the area, especially in the Buffalo Ridge section of southwest Minnesota. Snowfall should only be a half inch or less at most locations, but some of southwest Minnesota and toward Brookings South Dakota could receive up to an inch by this evening. Some roads and parking lots may become slippery due to this snow, but otherwise Holiday shopping and traveling should not be greatly bothered. Boots and hats are recommended for the snow and cold, and motorists should be aware that it may take longer to come to a complete stop than normally expected.
