It Was Hot Yesterday

WHILE NO RECORDS WERE SET...YESTERDAYS HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE   
TRI-CITIES OF GRAND ISLAND...KEARNEY AND HASTINGS MADE IT HALF WAY   
TO THE BOILING POINT.  
 
AT THE GRAND ISLAND REGIONAL AIRPORT...YESTERDAYS RECORDED DAILY   
HIGH WAS 109 DEGREES...WELL SHORT OF THE DAILY RECORD HIGH OF 114   
DEGREES SET IN 1934...AND THE ALL-TIME GRAND ISLAND RECORD HIGH   
TEMPERATURE OF 116 DEGREES SET ON JULY 24TH IN 1936.  THE LAST TIME   
IT WAS THIS HOT IN GRAND ISLAND WAS AUGUST 16TH 1983...WHEN THE   
MERCURY ROSE TO 110 DEGREES.   
 
FOR KEARNEY...YESTERDAYS HIGH OF 106 DEGREES ALSO FELL SHORT OF THE   
DAILY RECORD HIGH OF 110 DEGREES SET IN 1934...AND WAS 8 DEGREES   
FROM TYING THE ALL-TIME RECORD HIGH OF 114 DEGREES SET ON JULY 24TH   
1936.  THE LAST TIME THE TEMPERATURE WAS THIS HOT AT THE KEARNEY   
AIRPORT WAS JULY 3RD 1990 WHEN THE TEMPERATURE HIT 108 DEGREES.  
 
AT THE HASTINGS MUNICIPAL AIRPORT...YESTERDAYS MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE   
OF 107 DEGREES FINISHED 4 DEGREES BELOW THE DAILY RECORD HIGH OF 111   
DEGREES SET IN 1934.  YESTERDAYS HIGH WAS 7 DEGREES SHORT OF THE   
ALL-TIME HASTINGS HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 114 DEGREES ALSO SET ON JULY   
24TH 1936.  THE LAST TIME IT WAS THIS HOT IN HASTINGS WAS JULY 13TH   
1995 WHEN THE AFTERNOON HIGH HIT 107 DEGREES.
