Strong Winds Sunday Afternoon

Strong winds developed across south central Nebraska and portions of north central Kansas Sunday afternoon.  Many locations experienced wind gusts in the 50-60 mph range, with a few locations reporting peak wind gusts in excess of 60 mph!  The tables and graphic below reflect peak wind gusts as recorded by automated observing sites located across the area. Locations highlighted on the tables in yellow recorded gusts that met or exceeded NWS warning criteria for wind speeds associated with Severe Thunderstorms (58 mph or greater).
