Arctic Air Firmly In Place This Weekend

Bitterly cold conditions will persist across much of the Central Plains today, especially across much of central, northern and eastern Nebraska as a reinforcing shot of Arctic air spills through the area and keeps temperatures in the single digits above zero. Farther south and west...much of central and western Kansas along with southwest Nebraska will be a touch warmer with highs mainly in the teens to around 20.

However, sustained northwest winds picking up to between 20 and 30 mph today will make it feel even colder, with wind chill readings below zero across much of the Central Plains.

A wind chill advisory is in effect for most of south central Nebraska through 6pm today, as wind chills between 20 and 25 degrees below zero remain common.

A wind chill calculator can be found on the winter weather information page.
