An intense low pressure system lifting across the central plains today will produce showers and thunderstorms, and bring the potential for severe weather. Thunderstorms are expected to develop around midday and continue during the afternoon and early evening. Severe thunderstorms are possible, and the primary hazards from the storms will be hail to the size of golf balls and thunderstorm wind gusts to 60 mph.
