June 9-12: Top 10 Rain Totals In NWS Hastings Coverage Area

Although the month of June as a whole has been rather wet across much of south central Nebraska and north central Kansas, the most recent "wet spell" seemed to set in during the early morning hours of June 9, when southern sections of Rooks, Osborne and Mitchell counties in north central Kansas were drenched with 1-2 inches of rain.

Then, during the evening of June 10 into early morning on June 11, nearly stationary thunderstorms again soaked western portions of south central Nebraska and north central Kansas. This event featured an incredible 5.27" of rain over the course of just a few hours in Oxford, NE, as reported by an observer for the Nebraska Rainfall Assessment and Information Network (NeRAIN). Less dramatic precipitation events occurred over the course of June 11-12, before the area began at least a brief respite from the rain.

Summarized in the two tables below are rainfall totals focusing only on the 4-day period June 9-12. The first table depicts the "Top 10" rainfall totals during this time across the NWS Hastings County Warning and Forecast Area. The second table shows various other locations of interest.
