     Record setting heavy rain fell across parts of south central Nebraska and north central Kansas Tuesday evening August 25th through Wednesday morning August 26th.  Over 5 inches of rain was reported on the southwest side of Hastings, Nebraska....with 4.09 inches of precipitation reported at the Hastings Municipal Airport...a new daily precipitation record for August 26th...which was also enough to establish an "all-time" 8th wettest 24 hour record rainfall record based on data going back to 1894.

     The heaviest rainfall was along a roughly 30 mile wide swath...from just east of Minden, Nebraska into Fillmore and York County.  Average rainfall along the band of heaviest rain ran generally in the 3 to 5 inch range with widespread reports of flooding.  The maps below provides a view of some of the heavier rainfall reports from National Weather Service Cooperative Weather Observers....Trained Spotters and Observers from the NERain Project.
