On Monday morning, May 16th, 2011, the official NWS Cooperative Observer at Kearney Regional Airport reported a low temperature of 31 degrees. This breaks the previous record of 34 degrees, set in 1932.

On Monday morning, May 16th, 2011, automated ASOS equipment at Hastings Municipal Airport in Hastings tied a new minimum temperature record of 34 degrees. This tied the old May 16th record of 34 degrees set back in 1929, 1925, and 1923.
