The September 15th high temperature at the Central Nebraska Regional Airport in Grand Island was only 49 degrees. This tied the record-coldest high for the date first set in 1903.

  • This was the coldest high temperature on ANY day in September since a reading of 44 degrees on Sep. 24, 2000.
  • The all-time coldest high temperature in September was 40 degrees on Sep. 29, 1985.

The official NWS Cooperative Observer at the Kearney Regional Airport reported a high temperature of only 45 degrees on September 15th. This broke the record-coldest high for the date of 53 degrees in 1973.

  • This was the coldest high temperature on ANY day in September since a reading of 40 degrees on Sep. 24, 2000.
  • The all-time coldest high temperature in September was 38 degrees on Sep. 29, 1985.
  • All records for Kearney are based on the Cooperative Observer report. Although the automated weather sensor (AWOS) at the airport is used for various climatological reports, the official source of record data is the Cooperative Observer.
