Record High Temperatures For January 5th Broken in The Tri-Cities

The January 5th high temperature at the Central Nebraska Regional Airport in Grand Island was 68 degrees. This broke the previous record of 61 degrees set in 1956.

  • This was the warmest high temperature on ANY day in January since a reading of 70 degrees on Jan. 15, 2006
  • The all-time warmest January temperature was 76 degrees on Jan. 10, 1990

The official NWS Cooperative Observer at the Kearney Regional Airport reported a high temperature of 69 degrees on January 5th. This broke the previous record for the date of 66 degrees in 1956.

  • This was the warmest high temperature on ANY day in January since a reading of 69 degrees on Jan. 24, 2005
  • The all-time warmest January temperature was 77 degrees on Jan. 10, 1990
  • All records for Kearney are based on the Cooperative Observer report. Although the automated weather sensor (AWOS) at the airport is used for various climatological reports, the official source of record data is the Cooperative Observer.
