April 1, 2012: Record-Tying Warmth At Grand Island

Warm temperatures were not "fooling around" on April 1, 2012, as Grand Island tied records for both its record high and also its record warm minimum temperature. This unseasonably warm day with plenty of sunshine and southerly breezes followed directly on the heels of what ended up being the the warmest March on record in Grand Island...


The high temperature at the Central Nebraska Regional Airport in Grand Island reached 88 degrees at 317 PM CDT. This tied the previous record high temperature of 88...set just nine years ago in 2003.

In addition to tying the record daytime high temperature, Grand Island also tied its record warmest minimum temperature for April 1st. This low temperature fell to only 57 degrees at 719 AM CDT, tying the mark established back in 1963.
