July 5, 2012: Grand Island Sets Record Warm Minimum Temperature

Although the afternoon high temperature of 99 degrees on Thursday, July 5, 2012, fell well short of the record of 110 degrees for the date, Central Nebraska Regional Airport in Grand Island still managed to establish a July 5th temperature record: The minimum temperature only dropped to 76 degrees, which established a new record-warmest minimum temperature for the date, eclipsing the previous mark of 75 degrees set way back in 1911. Temperature records at Grand Island date to 1896. 

This was the warmest minimum temperature in Grand Island since August 1, 2011, when it only dropped to 77 degrees.
