The August 17th low temperature at Central Nebraska Regional Airport in Grand Island was 45 degrees. This tied the previous record of 45 degrees set in 1943. This was the coolest low temperature on ANY August day since a reading of 45 degrees on Aug. 30, 2009.

The August 17th low temperature at Hastings Municipal Airport was 48 degrees. This broke the previous record of 49 degrees set in 1943. This was the coolest low temperature on ANY day in August since a reading of 47 degrees on Aug. 30, 2009.

  • The coolest August temperature on record is 40 degrees set on both Aug. 20, 1950, and Aug. 30, 1911.

    Temperature records at Hastings date back to 1907, and are based on reports from the NWS Cooperative Observer from 1907-1995. Since 1996, Hastings records are based on the automated ASOS at Hastings Municipal Airport.
