July-Aug 2013: Grand Island and Hastings Go 28-29 Days Without Hitting 90 Degrees

From July 23-August 20, 2013, the automated sensor at Hastings Municipal Airport went 29 DAYS without reaching 90° This streak was finally broken on Wednesday, August 21st. When only considering streaks that occurred during July-August (the two hottest months of the year), this established a NEW RECORD-LONGEST streak of sub-90° in Hastings!

A similar notable streak of sub-90° temperatures ended one day earlier at Grand Island Central Nebraska Regional Airport, thanks to the temperature reaching exactly 90° on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013. This ended a 28-day stretch of sub-90° readings at Grand Island, which went down in the books as the 5th-longest on record when only considering streaks that occurred during July-August.

SUB-90° ON RECORD.
HOWEVER, AS IS THE CASE WITH HASTINGS...WHEN BROADENING 
OUT TO INCLUDE ALL STREAKS THAT OCCURRED BETWEEN JUNE-SEPTEMBER...THE RECENT
STREAK DOES NOT EVEN COME CLOSE TO THREATENING THE TOP SPOT. THAT HONOR
