Jan. 20, 2014: High Winds For the Fourth Time in Eight Days!

Strong winds occurred again over parts of south central Nebraska on Monday, January 20th. This event was different in that the highest wind gusts were mostly from the Tri-Cities north and east. This was the fourth day of impressive wind in the past eight days! The graphic and table below show the peak gusts. Official measurements are from airports and are larger and indicated in yellow. Unofficial observations were gathered from "meso-network" or "mesonet" sites owned by private individuals and companies (smaller, orange speeds). We are grateful for these supplemental observations, but keep in mind that the equipment may not necessarily meet NWS or FAA standards for height or siting.
