Know Your Weather Before and After You Go Out

Now that the hot and hazy days of Summer are here, more people are traveling and enjoying the great outdoors. With the changeable weather of the Summer months, it’s important to know your weather before you go and while you are out. The National Weather Service offers a free, around the clock weather forecast and warning service through its All Hazards NOAA Weather Radio System. These broadcasts can be obtained from special weather radios or from ordinary police scanners.

In western Colorado and eastern Utah, the NWS office in Grand Junction maintains 8 NOAA Weather Radio (NWR) stations. These transmitters have a range of about 40 to 50 miles, depending on terrain. These 8 sites are located in the following locations:
