From 5 PM MST on December 5^th through 5 PM MST on December 6^th, 20 Skywarn mobile weather spotters from Mesa, Delta, and Montrose Counties participated in the 2008 Skywarn Recognition Day (SRD) held in Grand Junction, Colorado.

SRD is an annual event sponsored by the NWS to express appreciation for the outstanding volunteer efforts by our Skywarn spotters.

A big part of this SRD event is the communications contest, where our Skywarn spotters compete with many other SKYWARN groups throughout the United States and Canada.  During the last several years, our western Colorado SKYWARN groups have consistently taken either 1st or 2nd place in this amateur radio communication contest.  More information about this event can be found at http://www.crh.noaa.gov/hamradio/index.php
