Spring snowmelt has caused flows to be high on many of the rivers and creeks in western Colorado and eastern Utah. In addition...localized heavy rainfall has contributed to the flow. Flows should gradually decrease later this week.
High flows can result in river banks becoming quickly saturated and unstable. Caution is urged near waterways as river banks can erode or collapse unexpectedly. Do not let children play near high flowing rivers and canals.
River rafters and Kayakers should use caution on rivers with high flows, strong currents, and cold water temperatures. Novices should ride with experienced guides.
The National Weather Service is urging everyone to use extreme caution around rivers, streams, and creeks.
