Revised Flood Stage for the White River at Meeker, Colorado

On December 1, 2009 NOAA's National Weather Service (NWS) office serving western Colorado and eastern Utah will raise the official flood stage for the White River at Meeker, Colorado from 6.0 feet to 7.0 feet.  This change is based on data collected from surveys, communications with emergency managers and studies of past flood events.  The NWS defines flood stage as the river level that begins to impact life and/or property, and flood warnings will be issued when the White River at Meeker is forecast to reach flood stage.  The NWS location identifier (NWSLI) at this location is WRMC2.

This change has been coordinated with the Town of Meeker, emergency managers and stakeholders.
