A powerful winter storm system moved across the region on the evening of February 4th and through the day on the 5th. Widespread significant snowfall occured across the area, with as much as 10 inches of snow reported at Atwood. The following graphic displays the snowfall amounts reported across the area from coop observers, storm spotters and law enforcement. Thanks to all observers who submitted snowfall reports.
This storm impacted a large portion of the central plains, spreading heavy snow from eastern Colorado to Wisconsin. The following image is a visible sattellite image taken at 1025 am MST on February 7th.
In addition to the snowfall across the Central Plains, a significant tornado outbreak occured across the southeast United States.
