Rain and Hail Hit NW Kansas

A complex of thunderstorms produced a large swath of rain and hail across eastern Colorado and northwest Kansas during the late afternoon and evening hours on Wednesday, May 31.  Sherman county took the brunt of the hail and flooding rainfall, while other areas received wind up to 70 mph.

Radar Reflectivity

The above images are of radar estimated precipitation and reflectivity. A large swath of greater than 2 inch rainfall can be seen across the area. The radar imagery was taken around 9 pm MDT as a large area of thunderstorms swept across the area. A "bow echo" can be seen across Greeley, Wichita and Logan counties which is often associated with strong surface winds. (Click on image to enlarge).
