A WINTER STORM IS ANTICIPATED TO PRODUCE LARGE SNOWFALL AMOUNTS ACROSS THE TRI-STATE AREA BEGINNING LATE THURSDAY AFTERNOON. PRECIPITATION MAY BEGIN ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON AS A MIXTURE OF RAIN...FREEZING RAIN OR SNOW BEFORE TRANSITIONING TO ALL SNOW THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY. THE TRANSITION TO SNOW WILL OCCUR FIRST IN EASTERN COLORADO THEN SPREAD EAST ACROSS MOST OF THE TRI-STATE AREA.

NORTH TO NORTHWEST WINDS OF 25 TO 35 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS TO 40 MPH ARE ANTICIPATED ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY...PRODUCING NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS. PERSONS TRAVELING ACROSS THE TRI-STATE AREA THURSDAY EVENING THROUGH SUNDAY SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR HARSH TRAVEL CONDITIONS.

PRIMARY AND SECONDARY ROADWAYS...INCLUDING INTERSTATE 70 MAY BECOME IMPASSABLE DUE TO THE SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW. THOSE PLANNING ON TRAVELING BY LAND OR AIR SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF ROAD CLOSURES AND AIRLINE DELAYS OR CANCELLATIONS AND ADJUST THEIR SCHEDULES ACCORDINGLY.
