Critical Fire Weather and Record Highs

A ridge of high pressure over the plains states brought record high temperatures to the tri-state region today.  As temperatures climbed into the lower and middle 70s, relative humidities fell into the single digits.  When combined with strong westerly winds and dry grasses, critical fire weather conditions developed across a large portion of the central and southern high plains. Below is a summary of weather conditions on 06 February 2009.
