March 26-28 2009 Recap

March 26-28 2009 Storm Summary

A strong storm system moved out of the Rockies and over the plains on Friday and Saturday bringing a swath of heavy snow to much of the area.  The heaviest snow accumulations were observed across southeast Colorado, southwest and south central Kansas extending into portions of northwest Oklahoma.  A narrow axis in south central Kansas observed snow depths exceeding 2 feet.  Snow drifts in excess of 5 feet were also observed across the area.  A wintry mix of rain sleet and snow will continue to impact northeast Oklahoma, eastern Kansas and much of Missouri through tonight before the storm system moves toward the Great Lakes area on Sunday.
