October 21-22, 2009 Early Winter Storm

October 21-22, 2009 Early Winter Storm

An early winter storm brought abundant moisture to the Tri-State region from early Wednesday into Thursday morning. Rainfall totaled in excess of an inch over most of the area before colder air moved in allowing for a change to snow over the western half of the Goodland County Warning Area. Snowfall totals were particularly heavy over eastern Colorado where the transition from rain to snow occurred sooner.  As much as 12 inches of snowfall were reported in Stratton, CO with sporadic power outages and tree damage reported from Yuma, CO through Burlington, CO. Power outages were also reported from Benkelman, NE to Trenton, NE. Interstate 70 between Burlington and Limon, CO was closed for a period of time due to the poor traveling conditions.
