SKYWARN Recognition Day at NWS Green Bay

Amateur radio operators and members of the National Weather Service (NWS) in Green Bay are participating in the annual SKYWARN Recognition Day.  NWS Green Bay will be on the air on December 5 from 6 pm to 10 pm.  Amateur radio operators can visit the NWS office for brief tours on Friday, December 5, from 7 pm to 8:30 pm.

During the event, WX9GRB, the NWS Green Bay amateur radio station, will make contacts with other amateur radio operators across Wisconsin, the Midwest, and North America.

Amateur radio operators are among a group of volunteers, known as "storm spotters," who report real-time severe storm and snow conditions to the NWS.  Storm spotter's efforts greatly enhance the warning and forecast programs, leading to the protection of lives and property.  SKYWARN Recognition Day allows the NWS to recognize and thank all spotters for their work.
