Average Freeze Dates Across North-Central and Northeast Wisconsin

As autumn approaches, so does the date of the first freeze. There are many factors that affect the average date of the first freeze: The location of the reporting station--whether it's in a city, in a valley or on a ridge, or near a body of water--differences in soil types, and the extent of urban development around the site.

The map below indicates the average first freeze date across the area.
