...Lake Effect Snow Warning In Effect For Vilas County Into Tuesday Morning...

Cold northwest winds flowing across the relatively warm waters of western lake superior...will lead to lake effect snow showers over vilas county tonight into tuesday morning. The snow showers are forecast to become heavy at times over the northwest part of the county tonight...where 8 to 12 inches are likely...with 3 to 6 inches expected across the rest of the county by daybreak tuesday. In addition to the heavy snowfall, strong winds will create blowing and some drifting of the snow. The combination of snow and strong winds will make travel very difficult over far northern wisconsin. In addition... Very cold temperatures combined with gusty west winds...will bring wind chills down into the 15 to 20  below late tonight into tuesday morning.
