Severe weather outlook

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon in northern and/or western Wisconsin...then should spread east/southeast through the afternoon before reaching the lakeshore late this evening ahead of cold front.  There is still some uncertainty on how todays clouds will limit instability across the northeast portion of the state. However, clouds have been thinning through the morning and where the sun has been able to peak out, temperatures quickly shot up into the upper 70s and instability increased rapidly. If some sun can break through the clouds...instability can develop, strong to severe storms will be possible ahead of the front.

The main threat from any thunderstorms will be large hail and damaging winds.  Deadly lightning and heavy downpours are also expected in any thunderstorm activity.  Make sure to keep a close eye on the forecast for any updates to thunderstorm timing or severity, especially if you have outdoor plans today. Have multiple methods for receiving weather alerts whether  inside or outside!

LOCALLY DENSE FOG IS POSSIBLE LATE TONIGHT...ESPECIALLY OVER LOW-
LYING AREAS AND NEAR BODIES OF WATER.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH FRIDAY

ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP EARLY THIS WEEKEND. THE
PRIMARY RISK WITH THE STORMS WILL BE HEAVY RAINFALL AND LOCALIZED
FLOODING. GUSTY WINDS WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE.

THE NEXT MORE SUBSTANTIAL CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE SUNDAY
NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE NOT ANTICIPATED AT
THIS TIME...HOWEVER SOME OF THE STRONGER STORMS COULD PRODUCE
GUSTY WINDS AND LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL.

FOG WILL POSE A HAZARD TO MOTORISTS AT TIMES THROUGH THE
WEEKEND...MAINLY DURING THE LATE NIGHT AND EARLY MORNING HOURS.

DENSE FOG AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO POSE A
HAZARD TO BOATERS AT TIMES THROUGH THE UPCOMING HOLIDAY WEEKEND.
A MORE SUBSTANTIAL ROUND OF STORMS IS POSSIBLE LATER SUNDAY NIGHT
AND MONDAY THAT COULD POSE A SIGNIFICANT HAZARD TO MARINERS.
