Severe weather outlook

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon in northern and/or western Wisconsin...then should spread east/southeast through the afternoon before reaching the lakeshore late this evening ahead of cold front.  There is still some uncertainty on how todays clouds will limit instability across the northeast portion of the state. However, clouds have been thinning through the morning and where the sun has been able to peak out, temperatures quickly shot up into the upper 70s and instability increased rapidly. If some sun can break through the clouds...instability can develop, strong to severe storms will be possible ahead of the front.

The main threat from any thunderstorms will be large hail and damaging winds.  Deadly lightning and heavy downpours are also expected in any thunderstorm activity.  Make sure to keep a close eye on the forecast for any updates to thunderstorm timing or severity, especially if you have outdoor plans today.
