Satellite Image of Smoke from Canadian Fires Drifting into the Mississippi Valley

Smoke from a wildfire that continues to burn in northern Canada has drifted a considerable distance south into southern Minnesota and portions of the Mississippi Valley. Below is a satellite image taken at 1:45 PM that clearly depicts the smokey (greyer) area as opposed to normal cloud cover (in white):


The following is a satellite loop from the GOES-WEST satellite starting at 5 AM July 11 2013. The early images of the loop can clearly show the smoke in Minnesota due to the angle of the sun at sunrise.
