One of the Least Snowy Decembers on Record

December 2014 was one of the least snowy Decembers across a majority of the area, as there was a remarkable lack of significant lake-effect snow and a lack of snow-producing storm systems. Even more remarkably, it followed one of the snowiest Novembers on record in Grand Rapids and Muskegon.

Correction note: A number of entries in the early 1900s have been removed from the Muskegon list, due to missing snowfall data on days it likely snowed. The historical snowfall data displayed for all cities should be used with caution, as the notorious difficulty of measuring snowfall accurately is complicated by the possibility of incomplete data and the changing measurement and record-keeping practices over the last century.
